I followed a link from
Cyn's
ramble page to
Asia Carrera's
home page! Cyn?
Anyway, I was very impressed that aside from being a porn star, she's a total computer geek. And she's got quite
an arsenal of computer systems, or "butt kickers" as she affectionately calls
them.

The very, very first song I ever heard as a toddler was the 1960 No. 1 hit,
"Theme from A Summer Place"
by Percy
Faith and from the movie, "A Summer Place" starring Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. It was just something about this song,
with the lush, soaring strings and the happy, steady pace. It seemed to define a whole attitude for
middle class suburbia! However "cheesy" the song may sound today, it really made an
impact on a 3 year old toddler, enough to make him a music lover for life!. Anyway, my wife heard the song the other
day and said she couldn't stand it! Okay... I'm hurt!

The 1980's, revisited:Currently listening to "Human" by "Human League"
I'm now feeling better with my current flaws and past failures. After all, "I'm only human..."
*now ready to go out into the world and do GOOD!*

Please note that the previous post was written at 4:30 or so in the morning!I don't normally drink alcoholic
beverages, especially at the gigs (I need to be sure of my "meter" when drumming), but I was "coerced" into trying
one of those "drinks with the umbrella"... a "Red Raider" to be exact. I was at The Derby last week with the band, and
we usually get two free drink tickets. Well, I decided to go for it. The danger in those "sweet" alcoholic drinks is that
it tastes "sweet and unassuming" at first, and later on it kicks your ass!

I CAN'T SLEEP!!!!!!!!
Ugh! I guess sometimes you have goals, and it just seems so damned hard to find a sure path to "enlightenment"
when there are all these obstacles in life. I suppose we all experience things in life that hinder one's progress. Well,
it's always been that way for me... I guess I'm thankful I'm the kind of person who is willing to persevere, despite
the odds. Yes, I have dreams! Don't we all? Well, right now I can't sleep because of problems in my life...
and I guess I have to deal with them head on. It's just that sometimes they hit you square between the eyes, and
you're stunned! I know, I know... keep you're chin up, kiddo...

I love tropical fish aquariums. And before I had allowed mine to falter from neglect, it was looking pretty nice with all its lush,
"live" tropical plants. In fact, there were more plants than fish. And I simply kept a dozen neon tetras... small, peaceful fish,
to complement the plants.
Here's a
photo
of what the aquarium "used to" look like when it was regularly cared for and maintained.

Speaking of 80's...
I'm currently listening to
Siouxsie and the Banshees
1988 "Peek-a-Boo" from the Peep Show album. I almost forgot
that this album kicks ass!

I guess Lars Urlich and the Metallica crew are hell-bent on stopping the evil Napster monster. Just check out their
latest
CD.
They've made it Napster-proof this time!

The whole
Napster
issue of downloading free music from the Internet is getting a lot of heated debates on
capitol hill
with Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich, totally involved in the congressional hearings.
My drummer mailing list
is actively debating the pros and cons of the whole Napster/MP3 thing. I can understand indie
bands ecstatic over the ability to promote their music in this way, but the bottom line is that anyone can download
just about any song from the Internet with CD quality sound. The issues of "piracy" have to be addressed!

Pleazure
was the first serious band I'd ever played in. I have lots of fond memories from
high school
performing with this band.
We specialized in Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, and Ohio Players
cover tunes.
I always thought in my mind that this
band had the potential to really succeed. I miss this band greatly, but we all move on to other things.

My friend
Pat
sent me a link to a "bandwidth speed test" site but I had lost the link.
I found this
speed test
again over at
Teri's
site.
By the way, my bandwidth speed was clocked at 125.3 Kbps with cable modem access!

Searching For Old Photos
Well, since I don't have my digital camera yet, I have to be satisfied with what photos are available to me around
the house.I've been looking for photos to add to my favorites gallery. And here's an interesting

I don't know what to do about my youngest son. He is sleeping later and later every night.
He is starting to show symptoms similar to my own "night person" traits, and already at a youthful age of eight. Perhaps I should give him some valium or something?

Learning To Have A Good Cry
Men won't admit it but it is possible for them to get a little teary-eyed watching certain movies. And for me,
Little Women,
the 1994 movie classic was no exception.
Yes, I watched this for the first time last night. I had bought the video on ebay for my niece. I am usually reluctant to watch
such "chick-flicks", and only intended to watch the video to make sure it was in good shape. Little did I know that I was
quickly entranced by the open scene and credits... I ended up "staying for the ride". And thus, at least a half dozen
times during the movie, I found myself struggling with great difficulty to hold back my own tears! Damn this movie!
I really enjoyed this film... a wonderful story, and Winona Ryder should have won the Oscar.

Business Booming At The Post Office
I was talking to one of the clerks at the Post Office when I sent out my ebay items today. She was wondering why so
many people have been sending packages out lately. I casually mentioned to her that I myself would be coming there more often because of all the
auctioning I'm now doing on ebay. And I'm sure others are doing the same thing. And then of course there are the
other auction sites on Amazon.com and Yahoo, etc.... no wonder business has picked up at the old Post Office!

A Night To Remember... Last night was an
exceptional night at the
Juke Joint Cafe.
The
band
was hot... we had probably our best night ever as a band. And when something like that happens, I have to report
it. Yes, the Juke Joint was packed and the place was jumpin'! And I have to at least make a mental note to myself that I performed one of my best drum solos ever! I didn't
even know I had it in me to do such a thing, but there it was! And the audience's reaction was undeniable... but we
all deserved a round of applause for a great show last night. On the way home I was in tears, probably more from sheer exhaustion
rather than from realization I had such a great night!
I was also grateful that
Pat
and his family made it down from the Los Angeles area. Thanks for the support!
