Another show tonight with Donnie! It went well yesterday. The owner of Valentino's set aside an area for dancers.

Boy! Tammy's friends sure love to kiss. Notice the tongue action in the lower right hand corner!

I'm "wiped out", after just a few minutes on the AstroJump at my nephew's birthday party... whew! I need to start running again... build up that aerobic capacity.
2:40 PM ~

I'm remembering the movie Sophie's Choice, the movie in which Meryl Streep earned an Academy Award.

I pray to God that I will never be forced to make a decision like that, to choose which one of your two children would be put to death.

"The cool web people wear black." Hey! I wear black!
3:21 AM ~

This collection of inspirational quotes is probably the best I've seen on the web.

Tonight I'm back to performing with Donnie. I just love playing brushes on the kit now. To me, it's a welcome change of pace from the sticks. Although, I think it's time for some new brushes.

Poor Heather and her missing croissant! Zannah found a link to the old games. Remember Pong? And... Evan has trouble with Ikea.

Today, every bone and muscle in my body is aching. I am truly sore from steamcleaning my carpet yesterday. I vacuumed prior to steamcleaning too.

I consider myself pretty fit. Playing drums requires a certain amount of physical endurance, but with steamcleaning, I worked muscles I hadn't used in a while, so thus... I'm in a world of hurt right now.

Well, they say that in order to rid the body of the lactic acid that causes muscle soreness, it's best to ironically exercise yet again. So today, I get to vacuum the entire house again!

Cyn responded to my game question with The Bard's Tale which is an RPG classic... and on an Apple IIe, even! Hmmm.... those were the days, but of course we now have faster technology... I had a Mac SE (very archaic) which I donated to my nephew... My son and my nephew still love to play Beyond Dark Castle on the Mac SE... now that's a classic, eh?

Boy! I guess that's the way to go... make sure you have a big, big meal prior to your execution!

Cyn! Yes, I am glad you're back... welcome back to sunny San Diego, and it IS quite warm this week, but maybe not as humid as NYC?!
2:33 PM ~

Well, it's been such a busy week for me, you'd think I was "thinking outside the box". Actually, I'm "working" outside the box right now, steaming cleaning my carpet with this machine!

Teri responded to my email with her current game addiction, Sims. If it's anything like Age of Empires, then I'm going to be in trouble. I had to "ween" myself off of AOE.

Other than the top navigational images, I have a couple of "easter eggs" on this page. Can you find them?

I finally got off my "rumpus" and bookmarked a couple of useful reference sites. For one, Roget's Online Thesaurus, an indispensable reference source that I should have placed in my toolbar long ago. And britannica.com, the complete online version of the Encyclopedia Britannica.
11:44 AM ~

I am utterly exhausted from yesterday's activities. So, I need to go downstairs and get my coffee!

monday, june 26

I'm at the Public Library right now with my eldest son. He's researching some books on Chinese culture and I'm surfing the web on roadrunner. Ouch!!! Halcyon and Zannah were "blocked" by Surf Watch!
3:02 PM ~

This is great! I'm testing the power of Blogger by posting an entry at the Public Library! You go Blogger!

The Asian American Action Figure home page is a great start for getting into oriental pop culture stuff.
2:39 PM ~

Well... I just finished re-doing the weblog. Nothing major, just some tweaking here and there to give the entries some space to "breath". I like a lot of white space now, and I think it's important to the overall aesthetic. It also goes with my "subtle" Zen theme.

Today's typed-in domain name is:
hell.com
Check it out, it's kinda strange.

The Movie Review Query Engine is a cool site for movie buffs. The site searches the web for all reviews on any given film.

In case you haven't noticed...
I'm a night person, baby!

O friends, not these sounds!
Rather let us tune our voices
more pleasantly
and more joyously.

from Sweeney Todd
Nothing's gonna harm you
not while I'm around
Nothing's gonna harm you
no sir, not while I'm around
Demons are prowling everywhere
Nowadays
I'll send them howling I don't care
I got ways

We just rented The Emperor and the Assassin on video. What a great movie! An epic tale of a ruthless Chinese emperor who ruled during the 20th century B.C. and the plot to assassinate him . Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine) directed, and Gong Li (Raise The Red Lantern) also stars in this film from China. If you don't mind reading the subtitles and have the time to sit through this rather lengthy movie, then this is one film to see.

The gig last night at Valentino's went very well... it's a "standards" gig with singer and friend Donnie Finnell. There was a different guitarist name Kyle Martin and he played very nicely. Anyway, the band was "kickin" toward the end and we had a saxplayer sit in with us. I don't normally do drum solos at this type of lowkey gig, but all of a sudden Donnie pointed to me and I had to do one. It felt great, and it was a solo on brushes... lots of fun... starting to love playing brushes more and more...
11:19 AM ~

Oh, brother! I can't sleep but I'm dead tired... drank too much coffee at the gig earlier. Well, since I'm up...

Tracy Chapman
you got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
maybe we make a deal
maybe together we can get somewhere
anyplace is better
starting from zero got nothing to lose
maybe we'll make something
but me myself I got nothing to prove

I haven't listened to Tracy Chapman's first album in years, literally. And when I randomly pulled it from my collection to give it a listen I was very moved, as if I had heard the song, "Fast Car", for the first time. Such powerful words... a singer/songwriter who truly sings from the heart.
