I'm "wiped out", after just a few minutes on the AstroJump at my nephew's birthday party... whew! I need to start

I'm remembering the movie
Sophie's Choice,
the movie in which Meryl Streep earned an Academy Award.
I pray to God that I will never be forced to make a decision like that, to choose which one of your two children
would be put to death.

Tonight I'm back to performing with
Donnie.
I just love playing brushes on the kit now. To me, it's a welcome change of pace from the sticks. Although,
I think it's time for some new brushes.

Today, every bone and muscle in my body is aching. I am truly sore from steamcleaning my carpet yesterday. I
vacuumed prior to steamcleaning too. I consider myself pretty fit. Playing drums requires a certain amount of
physical endurance, but with steamcleaning, I worked muscles I hadn't used in a while, so thus... I'm in a world of
hurt right now. Well, they say that in order to rid the body of the lactic acid that causes muscle soreness, it's best to
ironically exercise yet again. So today, I get to vacuum the entire house again!

Cyn
responded to my game question with
The Bard's Tale
which is an RPG classic... and on an Apple IIe, even! Hmmm.... those were the days, but of course we now
have faster technology... I had a Mac SE (very archaic) which I donated to my nephew... My son and my nephew
still love to play
Beyond Dark Castle on the Mac SE... now that's a classic, eh?

Yes, I am glad you're back... welcome back to sunny San Diego, and it IS quite warm this week, but maybe not as
humid as NYC?!

Well, it's been such a busy week for me, you'd think I was "thinking outside the box". Actually, I'm "working" outside
the box right now, steaming cleaning my carpet with
this machine!

If it's anything like

I finally got off my "rumpus" and bookmarked a couple of useful reference sites. For one,
Roget's Online Thesaurus,
an indispensable reference source that I should have placed in my toolbar long ago. And
britannica.com,
the complete online version of the Encyclopedia Britannica.

Well... I just finished re-doing the weblog. Nothing major, just some tweaking here and there to give the entries
some space to "breath". I like a lot of white space now, and I think it's important to the overall aesthetic.
It also goes
with my "subtle" Zen theme.

We just rented
The Emperor and the Assassin
on video.
What a great movie! An epic tale of a ruthless Chinese emperor who ruled during the 20th century B.C. and the plot
to assassinate him .
Chen Kaige
(Farewell My Concubine)
directed, and
Gong Li
(Raise The Red Lantern)
also stars in this film from China. If
you don't mind reading the subtitles and have the time to sit through this rather lengthy movie,
then this is one film to see.

The gig last night at Valentino's went very well... it's a "standards" gig with singer and friend
Donnie Finnell. There was a different guitarist name Kyle Martin
and he played very nicely. Anyway, the band was "kickin" toward the end and we had a saxplayer sit in with us. I
don't normally do drum solos at this type of lowkey gig, but all of a sudden Donnie pointed to me and I had to do
one. It felt great, and it was a solo on brushes... lots of fun... starting to love playing brushes more and more...

Oh, brother! I can't sleep but I'm dead tired... drank too much coffee at the gig earlier. Well, since I'm up...

Tracy Chapman
you got a fast car I want a ticket to anywhere maybe we make a deal maybe together we can get
somewhere anyplace is better starting from zero got nothing to lose maybe we'll make something
but me myself I got nothing to prove
I haven't listened to
Tracy Chapman's
first album in years, literally. And when I randomly pulled it from my collection to give
it a listen I was very moved, as if I had heard the song, "Fast Car", for the first time.
Such powerful words... a singer/songwriter who truly sings from the heart.
